The Newman Family Bible

The three first pages of the Newman Family Bible have been written on. The first page is very faint and pretty well undecipherable. I can read the name Amelia Curry and the date 1781, but they mean nothing to me. At a distance below the words Officer of Chief Magistrate can be picked out and Sept 1886 but that is all.

I do not know who wrote the births and deaths on these pages but as some information on deaths in England are missing and deaths in Australia are recorded, I feel they were probably written by an Australian member of the family.

The second and third pages of the Newman Family bible lists the marriage of Elver Newman and Sarah Coleman with the births and deaths of their children. It was these pages which first sparked my interest in tracing my Newman roots. No location is mentioned of where these events took place and it took me some time to find it was in Castle Combe, Wiltshire.
